The rear panel on this Getac A790 is an example of the kind of customisation Steatite can undertake. This model is widely regarded as the toughest rugged laptop on the market & widely used in military and other testing applications worldwide. However, certain customers require the use of specific Milspec connectors to integrate within their systems and to support this need Steatite has designed and engineered a rugged back box that attaches to the standard A790 magnesium chassis and takes the standard I/O commercial connections on the laptop to 38999 military-grade connections. The versatility of the design allows other customers to select the most appropriate connectivity for their applications & Steatite is able to supply a precisely engineered solution.
Steatite has an in-house engineering team skilled in the use of the very latest professional 3D computer-aided design tools to develop product modifications from the ground up. Our in-house utilities allow us to ensure that your customized product will fulfil your requirements by enabling us to design each component individually and integrate this into the complete solution.
Below are a number of examples of modifications which have been made to the Getac range of rugged laptops.
The above image shows the base of a Getac A790 which has been heavily modified to include two joysticks to allow for the for the remote-control of a specialist robot. The keyboard has been substituted for a hotkey membrane allowing for quick access to various control of the various parts of the robot, and the rear ports have been replaced with military standard 38999 connectors.
Here we have a Getac V100 which has had a number of side mounted ports modified for a custom application. The standard Getac power jack has been replaced with a military connector, whilst the modem connectors on the side have been replaced with ones specific to the application.
This Getac M230 has had the standard RJ45 network intercade replaced by two integrated fibre optic connectors for secure high speed data transfer.
The above left-hand image shows the modified C-face of a Getac B300 to incorporate a numeric keypad. The right-hand image shows the rear of an A790 unit which has been customized to incorporate a variety of military-spec connectors.
The image on the left shows a close-up of the mains adapter on a Getac V100 which has been modified for use with a military connector. The image on the right shows a locked media bay on a Getac M230 which was had some mil-spec connectors added to it for a custom application.
The above image shows a fairly simple modification to the rear of a Getac M230 notebook. This particular model has been customized to include a second RJ45 connector.
The above M230 image shows a custom SMA connector which has been added to the unit to allow for the connection of an external GPS antenna.
